"SIFFY" - Slot Is Free For You
This procedure was developed for two main reasons:
- If you (and/or your boss) are lucky, than you might not have to pay for a slot that you couldn't use after all.
- Other users (eg. users with fixed samples) get the chance to spend more time on an otherwise heavily booked system.
To offer a slot
If you find that you can't make it to an already booked slot and it is 24h or less before that slot already, then please do the following:
- 1 Cancel the slot out of the booking database.
- 2 Send an email to lmf-user(@)mpi-cbg.de. It only needs to contain following info in the subject field:
- SIFFY, name of system, time of offered slot (eg. Subject: SIFFY CO1 Olympus FV1000 tomorrow 10-11am)
- 3 Important: if your slot was the last of the day and you cancel booking on a very short notice (ie.: at a time when the previous user has no chance to know that anymore), it is still your responsibility to switch off the system, if no one else should take it!!!
To take an offered slot
If you read in the SIFFY emails that a slot has been offered that you would be interested to take on such a short notice, then please do the following:
- 1 Answer the SIFFY email with "I'll take it" in the text field (don't change the subject field).
- 2 Log into the LMF/IPF booking database, go to the respective system and book the offered slot as normal.
- 3 Important: by officially taking the slot, you also take over the responsibility to switch off the system if needed.
- 4 Happy Imaging!
