"SIFFY" - System Is Free For You

This procedure was developed for two main reasons:

• The user who needs to step back from a slot on a short term notice might get lucky to not have to be responsible for the system.
• Other users (eg. users with fixed samples) get the chance to spend more time on an otherwise heavily booked system.

To offer a slot

If a user finds that he/she can't make it to an already booked slot and it is 24h or less before that slot already, that user is asked to do the following:

1. Send an email to ALL USER. It only needs to contain following info in the subject field:

   SIFFY, name of system, time of offered slot (eg. Subject: SIFFY SP5I tomorrow 10-11am)

2. Important: if the offered slot was the last of the day and it gets canceled on a very short notice (ie.: at a time when the previous user has no chance to know that anymore), it is still the responsibility of the user who booked the slot originally to switch off the system, if no one else takes it!!!
3. Important: The user who booked the slot in the first place still gets charged for it!!!

To take an offered slot

If a slot is offered in the SIFFY emails and another user is would like to take it, that user is asked to do the following:

1. Answer the SIFFY email with "I'll take it" in the text field (don't change the subject field).
2. Important: by officially taking the slot, that new user also takes over the responsibility to switch off the system if needed!!!
