BioDIP's History

The BioDIP has developed over a couple of years. Major steps were the foundation of the Imaging Facilities Network (IFN) in 2006 and later the foundation of the BioDIP in 2013 enabled by the DFG "Core facilities" funding.

BioDIP facilities participated during the Science Night that attracted 38.000 visitors!

Cryogenic Optical Localization in 3D enables determination of conformational states of the cytosolic Per-ARNT-Sim domain from the histidine kinase CitA of Geobacillus thermodenitrificans, and resolve the four sites where biotin binds to streptavidin in three dimensions.

Extraordinary BioDIP Seminar with Siegfried Weisenburger

"Breaking the limits – Applications of modern light microscopy in structural biology and neuroscience" - Siegfries Weisenburger (Rockefeller University New York) presented two novel imaging technologies during this exciting seminar.

GerBI becomes the German Society for Microscopy and Image Analysis

The German BioImaging-Gesellschaft für Mikroskopie und Bildanalyse (GerBI-GMB) was founded on Apr 28, 2017 in Konstanz, Germany. GerBI-GMB represents the interests of researchers and professionals as well as core facilities in Germany involved in microscopy and image data analysis for the life sciences.

BioDIP Seminar on Segmentation

The Spring Seminar was dedicated to Segmentation of images, a technique that allows to extract quantitative information about e.g. the number/size/shape/brightness of biological objects.
